En el marco de la Reunión Anual No. 46 de la “Waterbird Society” que se llevó a cabo el pasado del 31 de octubre al 4 de noviembre de 2022 en Corpus Christi, Texas y que dio lugar al Simposio: “Reddish Egret Ecology and Conservation” organizado por el Reddish Egret International Working Group, se realizaron ponencias para la actualización de los avances de esta iniciativa, contando con la participación de cinco organizaciones de Estados Unidos, México y Belice, mencionadas a continuación.
Por parte de la Universidad del Estado de Texas en San Marcos, el PhD Clay Green quien colidera el Grupo de Trabajo Internacional, abordó su ponencia sobre el “Plan de Conservación de Garza rojiza 2022-2032” aportando detalles del avance y proyección de metas y estrategias para la conservación de esta ave acuática. Señaló la necesidad de incluir nuevos socios a los comités de seguimiento de la iniciativa. Además de señalar las aportaciones de Pronatura Noreste como parte del proceso participativo y autoría del documento, adicionalmente mencionó que el Plan de Negocios para la Conservación de la Garza rojiza en México ayudó a guiar la actualización del nuevo plan continental.
El M. C. Ernesto Gómez Uc titular del Programa de aves de Pronatura Península de Yucatán presentó los trabajos de restauración que se llevan a cabo en ecosistemas de mangle a través del restablecimiento de flujos hidrológicos, proyecto conjunto con Pronatura Noreste, CINVESTAV (Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del IPN), la Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano y Medio Ambiente de Yucatán.
Posteriormente el biólogo Salvador Narváez Torres expuso un panorama general del desarrollo e implementación del Plan de Negocios para la Conservación de la Garza Rojiza en México liderado por Pronatura Noreste A.C., ampliando las necesidades e intereses de conservación a lo largo de la distribución de la especie, trabajando en conjunto con los socios mexicanos y del Grupo de Trabajo Internacional durante casi 10 años para beneficio de esta especie a nivel global.
Continuó Phillip Vasseur del Luisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, quien abordó el efecto de los ciclones tropicales en las poblaciones de Garza rojiza en las costas de Louisiana, representando una amenaza importante ante la relación estricta entre la especie y hábitats someros, por lo que señaló la prioridad de reforzar esquemas de restauración y protección de hábitats.
Finalmente, Leomir Santoya, Manager del Natural Resources Management Program en Sartaneja Alliance for Conservation and Development dio lugar a los resultadosrecientes para el conocimiento de la población, distribución y anidación de la garza rojiza en The Northern Belize Coastal Complex.
Parte de los resultados expuestos forman parte de un proyecto llamado: "Conservación de Garzas Rojiza migratorias en México y Belice", liderado por Pronatura Noreste, financiado por el US Fish and Wildlife Service, a través del programa del Neotropical Migratory Birds Conservation Act, donde a la par se realizan esfuerzos de protección, monitoreo, restauración, capacitación y sensibilización en Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Yucatán, Oaxaca-Chiapas y Belice.

Within the framework of the 46th Annual Meeting of the "Waterbird Society" that took place from October 31 to November 4, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Symposium: “Reddish Egret Ecology and Conservation” was organized by the Reddish Egret International Working Group. Presentations were made to update the progress of this initiative, with the participation of five organizations from the United States, Mexico and Belize, mentioned below.
On behalf of the Texas State University in San Marcos, PhD Clay Green, who leads the International Working Group, addressed his presentation on the "Reddish Egret Conservation Plan 2022-2032" providing details of the progress and projection of goals and strategies for the conservation of this waterbird. He pointed out the need to include new partners to the initiative's monitoring committees. In addition to pointing out the contributions of Pronatura Noreste as part of the participatory process and authorship of the document, he also mentioned that the Business Plan for the Conservation of the Reddish Egret in Mexico helped guide the updating of the new continental plan.
M. C. Ernesto Gomez Uc, head of the Yucatan Peninsula Pronatura Bird Program, presented the restoration work being carried out in mangrove ecosystems through the reestablishment of hydrological flows, a project carried out in conjunction with Pronatura Noreste, CINVESTAV (Center Research and Advanced Studies of the IPN), the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment of Yucatan.

Continued Phillip Vasseur of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, who addressed the effect of tropical cyclones on Reddish Egret populations off the coast of Louisiana, representing a significant threat due to the strict relationship between the species and shallow habitats, so He pointed out the priority of reinforcing schemes for the restoration and protection of habitats.
Finally, Leomir Santoya, Manager of the Natural Resources Management Program at the Sartaneja Alliance for Conservation and Development, presented the recent results for the knowledge of the population, distribution and nesting of the Reddish Egret in The Northern Belize Coastal Complex.
Part of the exposed results are part of a project called Conservation of migratory REddish Egrets in Mexico and Belize, led by Pronatura Noreste financed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, through the Neotropical Migratory Birds Conservation Act, where protection efforts are carried out, monitoring, restoration, training and awareness in Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Yucatan, Oaxaca-Chiapas and Belize.
